Ubuntu Live CDI think for a lot of Linux users, we all have gone through the stage of trying many different distro’s, installing, wiping out, and then re-installing another Linux. I am no exception. Over the past few years, I have tried many distro’s including Mandrake (now Mandriva), Gentoo, Fedora, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, openSUSE, MEPIS, KNOPPIX, and the list just keep going. However, ever since I started my computer business, I have stayed on using Ubuntu on my laptop computer as my daily OS. Why Ubuntu? Because of it’s huge community.

After trying many Linux distributions, I found that it is easier to find a solution when a problem arise in Ubuntu. The reason is that there is a very active community behind Ubuntu and most problems are already brought up by other users and documented somewhere. (Ubuntu has 9% more of users than openSUSE according to the “2007 Desktop Linux Market Survey” from desktoplinux.com.) All you need to do is to Google about the problem and you will be able to find an answer. Also, I find that there are a lot more software ready to be downloaded and installed from Ubuntu’s repositories (or the software pool if you prefer). If you need more, simply follow a tutorial and add more software sources and you will be able to install more third-party software.
